4-2. Comparison of the bodies of humans and (criminal) angels
4-2. Comparison of the bodies of humans and (criminal) angels
Humans are a combination of a spirit from God
and a body made of earth. When the body dies, the spirit and the body are
separated. So the body returns to the earth, and the spirit returns to God.
The spirit that entered the
human body is the spirit of an angel from heaven. The fallen angels in the
kingdom of God originally wore a spiritual body. The spirit taking off its body
is expressed as being naked. Genesis 3:6-7 "When the woman saw that the
tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and that the tree
was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and did eat. She also
gave some to her husband with her, and he did eat. Then the eyes of both of
them were opened, and they knew that they were naked. So they sewed fig leaves
together and made themselves aprons."
The spirit must wear something to avoid being naked. The man and woman
(spirits of the angels who sinned) who ate the fruit of the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil made themselves aprons with fig leaves, and the fig
tree symbolizes the law that represents sin. Therefore, the statement that they
made themselves aprons with fig leaves means that they wore a body of sin.
Humans who wear the body of sin are passed down from generation to
generation. The body of sin that came from the first man Adam came to Jesus
Christ. Jesus, as Christ, had to cut off this body of sin. That is why he made
the sinful angels who came into the world return to the kingdom of God. Death
on the cross is the death of the body of sin. Romans 6:6 says, “For we
know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be
done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.” Jesus’ spirit is
also imprisoned in the flesh. The flesh inherited the body of sin from Mary.
Therefore, this body of sin must die in order to save the spirits of the sinful
angels.
Jesus died on the cross and
was resurrected. Resurrection is returning to the previous state. Jesus came
down from heaven. He was a spiritual being in heaven, but Jesus took off his
spiritual body and came into a physical body. So when his physical body died on
the cross, he was resurrected into a spiritual body. This is resurrection.
All who repent and turn to
God are united with Jesus and believe that they will be resurrected with Him
through His death on the cross. Romans 6:5 says, “For if we have been united with Him
in the likeness of His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in the
likeness of His resurrection.”
Therefore, angels in the
world have the appearance of human bodies, but in the kingdom of God, the
bodies of angels are spirits wearing spiritual bodies. Human bodies are subject
to the limitations of time and space. However, the bodies of angels are not
subject to the limitations of time and space. Through the Bible, we can see
that the resurrected Jesus’
body was transformed or that he suddenly appeared to his disciples through a
wall. John 20:19 “Then
on the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked where
the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst and
said to them, ‘Peace
be with you.’”
The same goes for the bodies
of angels. Genesis 19:1-2 "Then two angels arrived at Sodom in the
evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. When he saw them, he got up
to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. He said, 'Sirs, turn
in here and come into your servant's house. Wash your feet and spend the night;
then rise early and go on your way.' But they said, 'No, but we will spend the
night in the street.'" Two angels suddenly appear to Lot and have a
conversation.
In the Bible, angels
suddenly appear to people and then disappear. The angel who appeared to Mary
announced that she would conceive by the Holy Spirit and then disappeared. This
is not a vision, but a spirit that moves freely through time and space because
it has a body.
Those who believe that they
died on the cross with Jesus and were resurrected with Him also have a
spiritual body. Ephesians 2:5-6 says, “Even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive
together with Christ—by
grace you have been saved—and
raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ
Jesus.”
The spiritual bodies of the saints are seated in heaven. However, since the
actual physical body is in the world, the saints cannot feel it. They will feel
it when their physical body dies. They only know that it has happened through
faith.
