9. Church doctrine exaggerates the significance of Jesus' second coming
and judgment
Matthew 25:31-33 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all
the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. All nations will
be gathered before him. He will separate people one from another, as a shepherd
separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right hand,
but the goats on his left."
Regarding this, church community members say that when Jesus returns, He
will separate believers and non-believers like sheep and goats, and judge
believers by sending them to the kingdom of God and non-believers to hell. They
describe the appearance of Jesus' return as coming with all the angels, and
Matthew 24:20 says, "At that time, the sign of the Son of Man will appear
in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see
the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory,"
so people imagine that in the last days, everyone in the world will see Jesus'
return and that he will carry out judgment with his tremendous power.
Even in Revelation 19:14, "And the armies which were in heaven
followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean,"
and in Revelation 19:20, "And the beast was captured, and with him the
false prophet who had performed the signs before him, by which he deceived
those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image.
These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with
sulfur," these expressions are symbolic expressions that show the state of
spiritual warfare.
The second coming of Jesus
is to come to the world for judgment, but salvation is that the gates of heaven
are not closed until the last remaining people become God's people. Therefore,
salvation continues until judgment is fulfilled. The Bible says that no one
knows the day or hour. The salvation of the saints is personal, and it happens
when they repent, die on the cross with Jesus, and receive the life of
resurrection. Therefore, a new temple is built in the soul of the saint, and
Jesus comes again and enters into that soul and dwells there, so the spirit of
the saint is with Jesus in the new temple. In other words, Jesus becomes the
master, and the saint becomes his servant. Therefore, it is said in Ephesians
2:8 that they are seated in heaven.
The salvation of the saints
is not obtained by working hard in the world and doing something, but by
realizing that they are the spirits of angels who committed sins in the kingdom
of God because they want to become like God, repenting and dying on the cross
with Jesus, and becoming a new person by receiving a spiritual body from
heaven. At this time, a change in identity occurs. It is a transition from the
physical self to the spiritual self. The spiritual self appears when one
receives the resurrection life from heaven.
For those who do not
currently have resurrection life, the second coming of Jesus will be judgment,
but for those who currently have resurrection life, it will be salvation.
Salvation is the grace of God that is being accomplished in the present.
However, many believers
believe that although they have been promised salvation, it can be canceled
again at the second coming of Jesus. This is because they misunderstand the
resurrection. They think that resurrection is the resurrection of a dead body,
and therefore they think that salvation is something that happens after death.
They also believe in a fictional story that says that when Jesus comes again
while they are alive, they will not die physically, but will be raptured,
caught up into the air, escape the seven-year tribulation, and then return to
earth with Jesus during the millennial kingdom to rule the world.
Salvation is the grace of
God that is happening now. No one knows when the gates of heaven will close.
While we are busy living each day, we must receive the resurrection life and
achieve salvation. Otherwise, the second coming of Jesus will come as judgment.
